Post game wrap-up.

So I watch the Superbowl for the ads AND the game. Gotta love the game. If only international conflicts were decided on the football field. Men could smash each other to their little hearts’ content, within the rules of the game. Yeah. Make football, not war.

There have been years when the ads were about a bazillion times better than the game. Not this year. I only enjoyed two and a half ads - the Chevy Mayan 2012 Apocalypse ad and the kid peeing in the pool ad - although I don’t have a clue what the kid was advertising. But the look of relief on his face was priceless. The half-ad I liked was the clip from the coming Avengers movie. Thor is such a freakin’ hottie and Tony Stark is so wonderfully snarky. Plus I’m a sucker for all things comic book. The movie will probably tank, but as long as I can look at Thor. Sigh. And who the heck is Scarlet Johansson playing? Oh, Black Widow. Meh.

Okay, got that outta the way. Now I must do some promo.

A couple friends posted some hilarious stuff, like pee your pants stuff. Here you go - Tom Stronach and Aaron Pound.

Hey, in preparation for the release of In the Flesh, book one, Incorporeal, is available for free on Smashwords and over at ARE. Go, upload!

My friend, author Casey Wyatt, has a dynamite debut paranormal romance - Mystic Ink. This is a really good read.

And here’s some news for all you Bostonians…sorry about the Pats. Dimensions, a U.K. entry, is the closing film for the Boston Sci Fi Film Festival - Saturday, February 18th. This looks like a great film. Lucky you Boston dudes and dudettes. Here’s some info:

Dimensions is a 1920s/30s sci-fi drama and revolves around a scientist’s obsession with going back in time, to revisit a moment from his childhood. It stars Camilla Rutherford (Gosford Park, Rome) and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Harry Potter and the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Inbetweeners). Dimensions premiered at the Cambridge Film Festival (UK) and outsold (per screen) the UK premieres of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Help and Midnight in Paris - not bad for a micro-budget, independent film, with only word-of-mouth (we can’t afford a fancy PR agency!).

Funny I didn’t care for the ads this year either. I did enjoy the boy relieving himself in the pool. Not sure what it was for either. :0)
    Thor is gorgeous.

  2. Penelope says:

I watched about 30 seconds of the game, the whole Madonna show, and a bit of one commercial (which just happened to have a couple of lumberjacks…yippee!). Looking forward to your book, and I recently read Casey’s book and loved it. And….I am just about to start the Linda Howard book you loaned to me…..Kill and Tell. Can’t wait!

I’m looking forward to In The Flesh! Congratulations on being in the home stretch.
    XXOO Kat

I confess I liked the Doritos commercial. Sounds like you’ve been a busy woman! I watched none of the game or the halftime show… :-)

  5. Evie Balos says:

“Make football, not war.” Yeah, totally. I watched the game mostly to see Madonna’s show as I’m not a football fan. I got a tad nervous when someone ripped a piece of material off her, reminiscent of Janet Jackson’s wardrobe “malfunction” when she performed at a SB show.

  6. I thought the same thing, Evie - chancy! I could do without the half-time shows.

  7. The Doritos commercials were pretty good, Anny. Have to admit it.

  8. Thanks, Kat! Hope all is well with you.

  9. Hi Penny. The Madonna show was over the top, but then every Superbowl half-time show is over the top. Go Linda Howard!

  10. Hey Amber - we agree!

  11. Tom Stronach says:

Loved the Superbowl song crazy guys

  12. Very cute song, Tom!

I actually didn’t even watch the game :/ I am horrible… I was beat from all of the running lately. My family told me they really enjoyed the game though (they were going for the Giants), and they didn’t really like the ads as much as they usually do. Me, when I watch the game I’m not a big football fan. I just watch it to spend time with family/friends, watch the halftime show, and the ads.

  14. Casey Wyatt says:

I can’t wait for In the Flesh!! Yahoo! Thank you for the shout out! I take it you finally got the Kindle back in your possession. :)

  15. Casey - yes I did! Indeedily-do!

  16. It was a good game, Kayla. Disappointing ads.

  17. Livia Quinn says:

;(( Pats… I wasn’t so impressed with the commercials either, even the Clydesdales. But since the Saints didn’t make it I wasn’t paying as much attention. Hate that it’s all over.
