Erotic or not erotic? You decide while I go flush my eyes with clorox!
Not Cool. You know how sometimes you’re poking about sites - nothing too outlandish or out of the ordinary, just doing your routine innocent blog search so you can see what your friends and your favorite bloggers are up to, and out of the blue, something unexpected and heinous pops up…
OMFG. There are occasions when you taste something so vile, so nasty you feel like you need to run home and brush your teeth, twenty times. It’s kind of like that, only worse. My brain needs a good scrubbing!
There are some things that are definitely erotic, some things that may be erotic under the right circumstances, and some things that can never be considered erotic in a million years. I saw a photo of one of those things today. Christ! I think the image has been burned into my retinas for all eternity! And no, it’s not what you think. Children and death are not involved. It’s somebody’s idea of erotic and man-oh-man…it is just so wrong on so many levels.
It’s hard enough being a romance writer and trying to explain to people what romance is and why it is not porn! I just spent three days with my husband’s family - finally told them what I do - and I had to endure three days of nonstop teasing about being a pornographer! I DON’T WRITE PORN, damn it! Then today I look at this classy romance site and my mouth dropped open.
No, I’m not going to tell you which site and yes, I’ve deleted it from my links and my computer’s history. Now I’m going to take a shower.
Romance writers - What sets you off? How much is too much?
