My contest is running through Monday - you can win a copy of any of my books. Beauty and the Feast is a delicious read…you know you’re hungry enough to eat that book up! Yum.
So hubby and I were talking about Steampunk and he says he’s read Steampunk - The Lost Regiment Series,, by William R. Forstchen. There’s a story behind this. A patient of his gave him the first book, and then every month for nine months gave him another, until the patient, sadly, died.
The Lost Regiment series begins during the Civil War, when a regiment of Union soldiers is swept through a time portal and end up on a hostile world. The men survive by their wits and their 1860′s technology, what they have of it and what they can create in their new world. Steampunk? I plan to read the series and find out for myself.
Random stuff - my puppy refuses to eat, at least he won’t eat much. He’s a huge puppy who has no interest whatsoever in food. I’ve resorted to canned cat food mixed with giant puppy chow mixed with a hard-boiled egg, crushed bacon and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. Sometimes he eats it, sometimes he won’t. This is both funny and frustrating at the same time. Believe me I have tried everything. Yeah, the vet knows.
If you ever get a chance, rent the movie Second Hand Lions. Not only does it star two great actors, Michael Caine and Robert Duvall, the story says an awful lot about love, loss and life. Watching it as we speak.
Starting a new WIP and revising the old ones.
Happy start of the NFL season! May all your fantasy football wishes and dreams come true. Night.

The Lost Regiment sounds interesting. I may have to check it out.
Sorry about the puppy. I have a fussy eater and I’ve found that goat’s milk works. Not only to get him to get, but it’s great for their fur. Just a thought.
So are you a 49ers fan. I’ve been a fan since back in the Joe Montana days.
I may try that, Amber. I have never known a puppy who won’t eat! Most puppies eat everything in sight. I’m shaking my head here…
Poor little Jake, he needs to be eating. I hope he feels better soon.
Steampunk fascinates me. I’ve been dabbling a bit in the Steam. There’s something very symbolic about the mixing of time periods. I think it’s a mild rejection of our modern life that disposes of things too quickly. With Steampunk the reader is grounded in something vaguely familiar while wonder and strangeness unfolds. There’s a certain innocence there.

In all honesty, I could never write steampunk. What I know of 1800′s steam technology would maybe fill a tea cup. Send me back to the Greek or Roman Empires and I’m okay. I avoided American history, other than Native American history, like the plague - oh…I am such an awful American!
Kat - thanks for your comment about Anytime Darlin’ on the review site. I sort of threw up in my mouth a little when I read the word ‘creepy’. Talk about a major turn off - the reviewer gave the book a recommended read and she liked it, but the creepy comment made my stomach turn. I appreciate your support. Like my hubby says - a 24 year old man will look at a nearly 18 year old young woman - it’s whether or not he does anything with her that makes him a good man or a bad man. In my character’s case, he was chivalrous and stayed away for four and a half years.
One of the great passions of my life (hubby is the greatest) was a 24 year old man when I was 17, nearly 18, and no, there was nothing creepy about our relationship.
Oh, Jake is fine, just doesn’t like food unless it’s cat food or forbidden food!
Wow, thanks for sharing that, Julia! My husband might enjoy this series, too
Hugs to you and your family!
I really like puppies. I just got one particular a week ago and it has not been trained yet and has bitten me a handful of times but its absolutely nothing to be concerned about, i can train it effectively. I hope
