And What Does Your Hero Do?

A fan/friend sent me this link yesterday - Can you name the most common occupations of heroes in Harlequin romance novels? I hope this link works - Sporcle was kind enough to tweet me the correct link.

So have fun, take the test, and then come back here and share your list of the most common occupations of romance heroes - doesn’t have to be a Harlequin hero.

Here’s my list, some are sort of interchangeable:

Highland Laird.

Prince/Sheik/King.

Millionaire.

Special Forces/Navy SEAL.

Cop/Detective.

Super Hot Space Alien.

Vampire/Shifter/Fae.

C’mon, give me your list and I’ll sweeten the pot - a paperback copy of the first two books of Daughters or Persephone and a pdf or Kindle copy of books three and four. It’s a win/win, guys.

  1. Amarinda Jones says:

Heart surgeon who shags his nurse and gets her preggers

  2. Amber Skyze says:

    Special Forces/Navy Seal…

  3. Katalina Leon says:

Where’s the escaped government-engineered mutant with a dark foreboding past and barely repressed memories struggling with his humanity?
Isn’t that a Harlequin vocational option? lol
    XXOO Kat

  4. Penelope says:

hee hee….I like Amarinda’s! Gotta love Harlies!

Why is Santa Claus not on that list?

  5. I missed two - the bXXX and the bXXXXXXXX mine are scientists, doctors (especially your husband) , dentists who see you on a Saturday, Law-Enforcement professionals (except you know where and with you know who b/c of his bruises), Political leaders who put people before party and re-election (in other words Gabrielle Gifford and Jimmy Carter). With what I have seen lately of Princes, (Chuck and Phillip) I don’t put them on the list. But Drag Queens should be for Bravery. Everyday people are usually heroes-The people who lifted a car to pull a guy out from under it while it was on fire, thems the heroes.

  6. Casey Wyatt says:

That was a fun quiz. I got them all right. Does that mean I read too much romance? Here are my heros - Elves/Fae, Greek God/Goddess, Supernatural bounty hunter, Healer/Queen’s Guard, Spa Owner/Playboy. I write paranormal, can’t you tell!

  7. I missed two, Casey. I do think firefighter should be on the list. Apparently you are into the supernatural!

  8. Hey Steph, I like a good old doctor romance, but from what I’ve read seems like cops, special forces and FBI/CIA guys get the girls.

  9. Penny - I thought about putting the very sexy Klaus brothers on my list… :)

  10. Oooh, like him, Kat! I think that is one of the main HQ occupations.

  11. Amber, I swear those two are the most popular HQ, at least currently.

  12. Yes, Amarinda. He must get her preggers. It’s the rule!

  13. anny cook says:

Assassins, CEOs, Independently wealthy rich boy, Doctor…

  14. Oh I like assassins, Anny!

  15. Kayla Graham says:

I got 6 right lol, I got Doctor, Prince, Rancher, Surgeon, King, and Sheriff. I really liked this quiz, it was fun. My ideal hero though would be a Cowboy (:

  16. Hi Kayla! Everybody loves cowboys!

  17. Nina Pierce says:

I missed “Prince” which totally should have gone with the king/nobleman and one other. But where were the alphabet guys, police and firefighters? Oh, yeah, HQN says they don’t sell. LOL!

I do enjoy shifters, vampires, special forces and of course an artist here and there. Fun little quiz.

  18. I think police and firefighters actually sell the best, Nina!

  19. Julianne says:

I admit I don’t read an awful lot of Harlequin, but yeah, that about sums up what I’ve seen. (Oh, yeah, a girl can find a millionaire on every street corner-yeesh!). There’s also cowboys…I think. They’re pretty big in the genre too, aren’t they? There’s also the vampire hunter who falls for the vamp, or the werewolf and the Lord of the Manor. um…I’m sure there’s more out there. I just can’t think yet. Need coffee.

  20. Julianne - gotta love that millionaire on every street corner - just waiting to rescue a damsel in distress!
