Have you watched Modern Family? I think it may be the funniest show I’ve seen on television aside from The Daily Show. Laugh out loud split your sides funny. You can watch episodes here. Modern Family. The Disneyland episode (the leash) was real life. I had to leash two of my three kids because they were runners. Yup. Walked ‘em on a leash for a couple years.

Today’s harvest, plus Charlie Huston’s great book - No Dominion. Chock full of blood and guts, vampires and gore. And dark humor. (Yes that is a lemon from my lemon tree. And hubby knocked the chili off the plant so I brought it inside.)

I don’t own a phone that is text capable…and don’t want one. I’ve never understood the attraction. E-mail is enough of a pain. Don’t twitter. Don’t answer the phone unless I feel like it. Don’t watch TV. It seems to me that people have stopped living because they’re so busy teching. No, I didn’t misspell it. Tech, tech, tech.
When the power goes out, life stops. People have no idea how to survive because they don’t know how to do it without “tech”. How do they think we survived before all the electronic stuff came along? I remember when call-waiting was a big deal…
to the annoyance of Ishbel AND the kids I rarely text oh and I rarely answer the phone either….. again much to their annoyance SCREEN, SCREEN SCREEN has always been my motto. A couple of years ago it became illegal to use your phone in the car unless it is completely hands free, shouldn’t be allowed at all, and my stock message on the mobile for the last 15 years has been “I’m either driving, in a meeting or I just can’t be bothered to answer, choose whichever one you think is appropriate and leave a message , I may or may not get back to you. In fact I have similar away messages for emails when out of the office, some people do not like my sense of humour, go figure…
Oh Jules, I am so jealous of your garden - Chillis - wash, wash, wash always wash hands after handling :] xx
I get some just as bad spam messages too I never thought of posting them, genius girl xxxxxx
Mr Huston being added to the TBR
I can NOT walk and text at the same time or I’d be one of these people in the videos.
I don’t text. I know…..I’m hopelessly old-fashioned. I can live with that!
I am sooooo jealous of your awesome veggies! I finally weeded my garden….some of the weeds were about 6′ tall….not an exaggeration. After pulling out the jungle of weeds, I found a nice watermelon patch, with about 5 mini watermelons. Also, basil, dill, scallions, some funky eggplants, and yellow and orange cherry tomatoes. And I only got zapped by the b*stard stinging nettle plant once….right over my gardening gloves on the exposed skin, of course. B*STARD PLANT!
What are you going to make with your bounty? Let us know!
I have a cellphone but I’m one of those rare people who probably use it maybe twice per week. I dislike texting and I can’t bother to learn all the functions on my phone. I’ve never seen Modern Family, but I do love Ed O’Neil. Can’t forget him as Al Bundy!
Oh Delilah - you have little kids. Modern Family is hilarious! Never expected to love the show. I just started watching - my daughters made me watch and I love it.
I do text all the time because my kids are so scattered. Texting is the easiest way to keep in touch.
Ah, Penny, I shall post a recipe and an interesting factoid tomorrow! Sorry about your nettles. You can eat them you know. The best pizza I’ve ever eaten was nettle pizza with fresh mozzarella and a fried egg on top.
Amber - LOL! Maybe that was you in the mall fountain! I can text and walk at the same time because I realize I’m risking death so I move my eyes independently, like a gecko!
Tom, I’m a texting fool! I don’t answer the phone tho unless the call is from my kids or hubby. It’s illegal here too, to use the phone while driving unless it’s a hands-free device, but I suspect any use of the phone in the car is suspect.
Some people can’t change the radio station or CD without crashing!
Oh, you will LOVE Mr. Huston. Jaye recommended him.
Ah, Anny, I read your post yesterday. I know you don’t watch television but there is a new program out this fall about exactly this topic - what will we do when there is no power… ever. It’s sort of a cross between The Hunger Games and, hmmmm, Battlestar Galactica.
I don’t like to talk on my cell phone or any phone for that matter. I generally stop moving to text. Your veg look great. I have one tomato ripening. I have a billion green ones tho’.
Ohh I see many of those and wonder just when they will fall flat because so many times they stop short just before…People need to pay more attention..
Love the harvest by the way..
Thanks, Savannah! It’s so sad and so funny at the same time. As long as no one is killed - except I do think people are actually walking in front of cars too…
Hi Steph. Sometimes I stop moving to text. Depends upon where I am. I never text while driving. Our tomatoes aren’t ripening either and the plants are loaded.
Hey, Julia! I saw the previews while watching the Opening Ceremonies. If I remember, I might watch the premier and see what I think. Area wide the internet was out here the other night for over an hour…My son’s here to visit and he didn’t know what to do with himself.
I read a book…
Too funny, Anny!
Anny, let me know what you think if you end up watching the show.
