This is what I make, this is what I do.

I baked these today, started them last night. They are really good - tender! Sometimes when I’m disappointed in the food I pay for I go home and make it way better.

My husband says these are dangerous and should not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. This time milk chocolate - next time fresh blueberries and ricotta cheese inside!

I’m working on Stay, the sequel to In the Flesh and Incorporeal. I find myself focusing on Jewish characters and themes in romance.

Shifters, vamps and paranormals of all stripes are commonplace. Minority characters in roles other than supporting? Not so common.

The way I see it, if I want to read the story I’d better bake it up myself. And make it taste good.

Go Julia! You’re rockin’ the baking and writing. :)

I always drift to “Not Commonplace” in my reading….it’s so much more fun and interesting. And the romance genre desperately needs some fresh, new approaches. Especially when folks are beginning to recycle the same book ideas (fanfic) for their stories.

Can’t wait to read your new book! And the ricotta ones sound incredible. :^)

This exactly true. Unfortunately, my background is pretty blah…

Yes well woman, you still can’t tempt me. plain and boring nicely warmed out of the oven, that’ll do for me. And multi tasking again - show off

    Xxxxxx

  5. I think it’s cool to focus on characters with whom you resonate.

  6. Julia, these look so delicious. What are they called? You are multi-talented. I like the analagy you make to writing.

  7. Pain au chocolat, Diana - chocolate croissants. Yes, food and writing - very similar actions for me.

  8. I kinda don’t have a choice, Steph. I have to know my characters, don’t do as well when they don’t have a piece of me.

  9. Well, Tom, when I get mad I bake. Crazy, I know… But they are good!

  10. I don’t think you’re blah at all, Anny. You have the most interesting life story! Like major backstory, honey!

  11. I know you do, Pen. You gravitate toward very unusual characters. Yes, recycling… bores me.

  12. Thanks, Amber. Very much a stress relief!

  13. Casey Wyatt says:

Those look amazing! Why can’t we live closer? Happy writing! I can’t wait to read Stay!

  14. You are making me so hungry here..

  15. Casey and Savannah - thanks! Yes, that’s the idea, to make you hungry!
