Freaky Friday Fashion Rant.

Oh gawd, I don’t normally get into this kind of stuff but what a fugly dress! Came across the images while surfing the internet for news. Ewww. Reminds me of a maxi-pad.

Risky? Try hideous.

Risky? Daring? Cutting edge? Try hideous.

When I was a kid I dreamed of being a fashion designer. Seriously… I spent hours drawing clothes, creating patterns, sewing all my own dresses. My husband first noticed me because I was wearing a pair of unique suede shorts- my own design. Ask him, he’ll tell you.

I began college as an Art Major before I switched to Creative Writing. Maybe I should have stuck with art. I think I could have been decent.

However, I would not have designed the above dress, that’s for damn sure. And if I did I’d never admit it.

Sheesh, as a man, you will know that we take charge of the remote control for the TV, just to stop it from being lost you understand, after 37 yrs Ishbel is fine with that, but if we are watching the London News and it is Fashion week, Ishbel will wrest it from me as soon as the report comes on as I can’t believe that

    a) idiots who design these stupid looking pieces of ‘couture’ actually think they are nice - or practical- to look at, and
    b) the celebs who do are too thick to know any better

And she doesn’t want me ranting about the sheer stupidity of all concerned…..

Jules, as usual, It isn’t just Me xxxxx

  2. Amber Skyze says:

LOL You’re right this dress is fugly!

  3. Jaye says:

Oh dear lord, I am so glad I swallowed my coffee before I read that. Maxi-pad dress! Hahahahaha!

  4. Jaye - :P I know. I find the dress in such poor taste.

  5. Oh it is, Amber. Yuck.

  6. No Tom, it’s not just you. I always wonder what designers are thinking. Like… Hmmm, how can I design a really ugly dress?

  7. THat dress would be nice if it were different - in other words a different dress would have been better. But I like the white and emerald together. If the side panels were different , maybe black satin with kick pleats or mermaid pleats at the bottom or even long high slits it would have been better than knowing she is going commando.

It looks like she’s saying “I am so daring! You can almost see my ass!”
I don’t want to see Gwyneth’s ass though!

  8. Tom Stronach says:

Can I just say, Steph, I wouldn’t mind actually seeing her ass, just saying - I know, men, sheesh

  9. I’m with you, Steph - Tom’s comment notwithstanding! I could remake that dress and it would be gorgeous! Actually there’s no ‘almost’ about it. You can see her ass and a lot of other stuff.

  10. Yeah, with all the money and people to help her, you’d think someone would have said, “No, just no.”

  11. My thoughts too, Stephanie. Apparently loads of money cannot buy either good taste or good advice. It’s like the story of The Emperor’s New Clothes.

  12. yoshi says:

I’m not seeing the “other stuff”.

  13. Well, Yoshi, sort of consider how hard it would be to walk and sit in that dress. And what if the fabric pulls to the side? And she needed a last minute shave…

  14. Sandra Cox says:

Interesting analogy:) Yes, you would have been good. You’re also an awesome writer.
