Finished the Menage/Multiple!

Hubby is sick of hearing about it, but as I explained to him, choreography is critical! To quote the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz…These things must be done delicately…Every body part must be in the right place at the right time and it must belong to the right person. I have to admit, living in so many heads at once has been a fascinating experience! Anyway - sent it off to my publisher last night - fingers crossed! We shall see! To celebrate, I’m getting waxed and a facial. Nazi esthetician will beat the crap out of me but it will hurt sooooo good!

For a hilarious read, head over to Katiebabs at Babbling About Books - all about the Black Dagger Brotherhood - animation at it’s finest!!! http://kbgbabbles.blogspot.com/ She had me spitting out my coffee this morning!

Happy Earth Day for all us hippies, old and young! I’m heading out for a hike and I swear to pick up any trash I encounter - always do anyway!

The young entrepeneurs over at Project Bacon put up a sweet tribute to mom for Mother’s Day: http://projectbacon.wordpress.com/ Plus the muffins look yummy with or without the bacon.

So, I’m taking a break from writing for a few days to get my Review page up and I’m going to post a linkity-link to my new nonfiction book which releases TODAY!!! Then it’s on to futuristic sci fi and the sequel to Captured.

If I don’t eat some potato chips, I may die!

Today has been the day from hell

and when I experience the day from hell, especially when I haven’t time to eat a single thing, I must have potato chips. Fortunately hell days don’t come around all that often, but lately, work IRL has been the essence of HELL. I’ve managed to avoid the potato chip trip until today.

I bought two bags because, you know, you gotta have two flavors - Balsamic Sweet Onion and Jalapeno - a handful from each bag and I feel so much better. It’s like - eat two handfuls of potato chips and call me in the morning - ‘cuz tomorrow and Sunday are shaping up to be an instant replay.

Here’s the caveat:

Dirty Sexy Books reviewed Captured! Yee-hah! Thank you thank you thank you!

Here it is - made me weep!

“It’s not often that I agree to review romantic erotica, not because I don’t like it, but because I view it like dessert. It’s a rare treat, and I don’t like to overindulge. What persuaded me to try Captured is that it’s also a science fiction story, and it’s getting harder and harder for me to pass those up.
Captured was presented to me as an erotic romance, but I will respectfully disagree. I am more inclined to call it a science fiction romance novella because the romance was the focus of the story all the way. Don’t get me wrong, the sex scenes were good, but they were on par with a SFR novel. For an erotica they’d probably be considered mild.
The way the relationship between Mari and Ekkatt developed was surprisingly robust. So were the sci-fi world-building elements. Personally, I think this story would make a great addition to a SFR anthology.”

My Everything

Don’t have a date yet, but

I’ve signed a contract with Cobblestone Press for My Everything, a romance/suspense previously published with Cerridwen. This is exciting news. The Good, the Bad and the Unread gave me a lovely review months ago - which of course thrilled the hell out of me. Sandy M. graded the book a B+ and said:

” I gave Ms. Barrett a little bit of a hard time on my review of her first book, Anytime Darlin’. There were things about that book that I liked but more things that I didn’t. But Ms. Barrett was very gracious, took her average grade from me, finished up her next book, and came back to us for another review. I’m glad she did.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed this sophomore book by Ms. Barrett. The storyline is intriguing and the hero and heroine have great chemistry. Now, that isn’t to say there aren’t a couple of little problems, but for the most part, I see growth in this author’s writing and I will continue to read her books.”

No, it doesn’t bother me to admit that Sandy gave me an average review for my first romance, Anytime Darlin’. An average review from a tough reviewer is all right with me - I happen to love Anytime Darlin’, but Sandy took issue with a few aspects of the story and that’s okay. I think if we are willing to keep an open mind, we can learn a great deal from our critics…unless, of course, they criticize without reason and/or resort to name calling. Besides, despite Sandy’s issues with my first book, there were portions she liked a lot and she thought enough of my ability as a writer to read my second. She could have blown me off entirely.

I’ve been writing for a long time and although I don’t have a thick skin, over the years I’ve gained enough confidence to keep on keepin’ on. That’s what we do.
