A Dance with Dragons.

My copy is on the way and I’m getting very nervous. After reading the first three incredible installments of A Song of Fire and Ice, and slogging my way through A Feast for Crows, I’d hoped A Dance with Dragons would move the plot forward. Alas, from reading the early reviews it seems I hoped in vain. So I guess this means I need to wait another 6-12 years for the next book. Crappola. I should receive A Dance with Dragons tomorrow and I’ll let you know what I think.

Dang it! It’s kind of like the way Diana Gabaldon’s stories became increasingly bogged down with minutiae as the Outlander series progressed - until the series reached the point where I could not read one more word, nor did I care that I could not read one more word. That’s bad, considering Outlander is one of my favorite books ever and Jamie Fraser is my favorite romance hero ever.

I hope it isn’t too awful.

  2. I have not read any of the books…

  3. Amber - it will be good, because he is a great writer, just not hellaciously good.

Savannah - his first three installments of the series are incredible. Best fantasy of this generation.

Haven’t read these yet-I’ve heard good things about the books and the TV series, and am thinking these might be right up DH’s alley. Please keep us posted ;)

  5. I hope A Dance with Dragons is wonderful and you’re right Outlander was perfect and should be cherished as it’s own experience.

  6. Fedora - the books are great, the TV series amazing. Well worth your time.

Hi Kat! Yup. Wish I would have stopped at Outlander so that one book would be forever etched in my memory. It still is, for the most part, without the subsequent installments.

  7. Stephanie says:

The first two books by Gabaldon but then it became more and more contrived with nearly every possible thing that could happen being written in.

  8. Yeah, I agree, Steph - everything but the kitchen sink. Oh wait, I think there was a kitchen sink in there!

I haven’t read any of these books. Keep us posted.
