That’s what the world is today…

Oooh, scary schizophrenic sculpture.

I come home from Montana to a continuing ball of confusion. Author friends are discussing the twin issues of burnout and discouraging setbacks. Bloggers I respect and rely upon for honest reviews are either quitting or going on hiatus. Drama seems to be the name of the game and conflicting advice pours in from all directions.

Tweet but don’t spend too much time on Twitter.

Promote your new books but don’t overwhelm the loops with your promos.

Talk about your new books all the time on your website, but nobody wants to read about your new books all the time on your website.

“We’re looking for good contemporaries.” Reject! Ack! Here comes the hook! “Your book does not meet our vampire, shifter, demon needs at this time.”

The publishing world is in flux. The publishing world is flummoxed. The publishing world is verklempt. The publishing world is ferkakta. The publishing world is mishuggah. The publishing world is gornisht helfn.

I need a cold shower and a s’more.

I think you summed it up perfectly! :)

  3. Amber, there is no way to capture the craziness we are dealing with right now.

Yup that pretty much sums it up.
Glad you’re home safe and sound, lovely Julia.

I miss those 70s groups! LOL!

Yes, the world is in flux, but at least it isn’t yet flushed. One of the most intersting part of RWA Nationals was seeing who was hoping on the change train and who was digging in their heels.

    Welcome home!

  6. Charlie - I would love to know who is hopping on the change train and who is digging in their heels. Seriously!

  7. Thanks, Sandra. There’s an awful lot to sum up! Just scratchin’ the surface.
