The Things We Do For Love.

So last night, after not sleeping the night before - or any night for the past ten days, I stayed up to watch the S.F. Giants in overtime. After the bottom of the 13th inning, I turned off the TV and fell asleep. An hour later, hubby came to bed. I woke to his moans.

Me: “What’s wrong? Why are you moaning?”
Hubby: “I have vertigo. Really bad vertigo.”
Me: “Huh? When did this start?”
Hubby: “While I was working out.”
‘Cuz you know when you’re running on empty you still gotta work out.
Me: “What can I do? You want a coke or some Benadryl or something?”
Hubby: “No, I’ll just crawl to the bathroom and vomit.”
Which he proceeded to do for fifteen minutes. There is nothing as nauseating as listening to someone wretch. Poor guy.

He crawled back into bed and totally crashed while I lay awake listening to his moans and waiting for the next bout of nausea. At 2:15 a.m. the cat showed up purring and all happy, trying to sleep on hubby’s chest like he usually does. Hubby kept shoving the cat away. I tried to hold the cat, but the cat didn’t want any of it and he took off. Ten minutes later I heard that sound…you know, that dreaded huck huck huck sound of a cat throwing up. The dog and I ran out of the bedroom only to discover that the cat had thrown up on every single stair. There’s a damn good reason I’ve never become bulimic - let’s just say it involves a slumber party for a bunch of screaming twelve year old girls and cheese pizza with pickles.

Needless to say, I remained awake the entire night. Today is the barbecue for my husband’s nephew’s wedding that we are hosting here. Ladies and gents, I am so effin’ out of it. Hubby is much better. He slept all night. Oh, the Giants won in the bottom of the 14th with a walk-off home run. Dear God let me get some sleep tonight.

Tomorrow…the dangers of burnout. :)
