Favorite smile - Nicky Parsons’ (Julia Stiles) smile at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum. (

Favorite bare back - Angelina Jolie in Wanted.

Favorite new demi-god - author Lawrence Block - didn’t know enough to be afraid. Lucky he didn’t smite me, for I deserve to be smoten for my sacrilegiosity.

Favorite new flavor - the whole marinated grilled chicken the enterprising Hispanic family grills up on two big charcoal barbecues set up on a street corner (a mile from me - you can smell the chicken grilling when the wind is right) and serves with homemade rice, beans, tortillas and salsa. They chop the chicken into pieces with a cleaver and you take it home in a plastic bag or eat it right there with your fingers and tortillas. Heavenly.

Favorite new red wine - Hall “Darwin” Red Wine.

Current favorite form of entertainment - digging potatoes out of my garden. This is a first! It’s like finding purple, red and gold buried treasure! Who knew you could grow potatoes in Cali?

Favorite new fun site - Bronte Blog. At long last…

Good ones! My new favorites are J. R. Watkins Natural Home Care All Purpose Cleaner (lemon scent)….I’m obsessed with that stuff…my whole house smells like a lemon drop! And, I’m totally into the mystery writer Dana Stabenow….I adored her Alaskan state trooper series. Great books! Is that wine mellow? sweet? dry? Let me know. :)

  3. Penny, ooh, lemon drops! I’m going to have to get some of that cleaner. I love lemon. Does it smell like lemon pie? The wine isn’t sweet, it’s mellow but (oh god I hate it when wine snobs say this) complex and full-bodied (can’t believe I said that). It’s a Syrah, so either drink it with strong cheese or with a meat, like lamb, steak, even salmon would be good.

  4. Oh, I know! Amber, hubby says we are going to get that chicken every Saturday until they quit selling it. He loves it!

  5. OMG that sounds so good! Grilled chicken, tortillas and fresh salsa are a big favorite with me. They’re my soul foods.
Have you smelled Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day home cleaning products in “Basil” ? Wow, I love it. I even shampooed my dog with it.

Favorite new form of entertainment- digging up potatoes? Forget writing. I can see it now- “you dig” potato farms- fun for the whole family. You could be rich!

  7. Well, Yoshi, I hope so. I may set up a street stand.

  8. Oh, Kat! I’ve got to try these cleaning solutions. Yum, lemon and basil. Yes, these people do grill up food for the soul!
