Close to fifty calves were born while I was there. We tagged, vaccinated, fed, paired ‘em up, babied the yearling heifers, rode the colts, exercised the experienced horses, cooked, cleaned and even managed a Passover Seder. There’s little downtime during calving and I cherished every single minute of it.
(Pray for rain, they are in desperate need of it in order to keep their herd.)
Oh, and I bought new cowboy boots at Murdoch’s. Nice!
Today is the first day I’ve opened my computer in over a week. It’s been a welcome break.
I’ll begin my new schedule on Monday. In the meantime enjoy the pics. I miss my foster calf, Delilah. She’s a sweetie-pie. I thought of bringing her home on the plane but alas… This is not City Slickers.

Beautiful photos! Enjoyed this post : )
Thanks, Diane.
I LOVE the pictures, Julia, especially the close up of feeding Delilah.
There’s nothing better than open skies and necessary work that cares for animals and people to lift our spirits. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
In this part of the country, we’re all praying for rain, lots of it spread out over many weeks so we don’t have floods. It’s going to be a tough spring and summer.
Thanks, Marylin! I love those cows. My daughter and her husband love those cows. They know each one by sight - all 480 of them. My husband says my camera phone is lousy but, it is convenient. Yes rain without flooding would be perfect, but maybe too much to ask for?
Looks such a blast. What a great way to spend a week.
Cool beans Julia
The pics are lovely. So glad you had a fun week away. It’s nice to unplug once in a while.
Beautiful Pictures! That baby calf is adorable.
So glad you had this time to refresh and enjoy. Missed you. Wonderful pics!
Yay! Julia is home. Those pics are gorgeous. You do pretty good with a phone. It’s a real pity you couldn’t smuggle Delilah onto the plane. She and Jake would have had a blast.
I’m doing rain dances.
Oh Jake would love her except for the head-butting! I think he’d take issue with that Jaye. The plane from Bozeman to Seattle is so small I doubt Delilah would have fit. But I would have fun trying!
Thanks, Anny. I had a great time.
All those babies are so darling, so joyous, Kat. It’s very hard to be in a bad mood around baby cows.
Totally nice Amber! Thanks!
It is cool beans, Ray. Thanks!
My favorite way, Greta. I was born to live on a ranch. But I married a doctor. Dang!
Aww, it sounds wonderful.
Welcome back.
Thanks, Sandra!
