Not So Freaky Friday. Best Moment Award.

Best Moment Award for New Friends.

Best Moment Award for New Friends.

Marylin Warner, in her wonderful blog - Things I Want to Tell My Mother - graced me with a blog thingy. It’s not exactly an award, rather the blog hop recognizes appealing or unusual or funny blogs.

Thank you, Marylin. I don’t think of myself as anything special. You, on the other hand, write heartfelt and heartbreaking posts week after week. If there’s a take-away message here it’s this - go subscribe to Things I Want to Tell My Mother.

Marylin gave me The Best Moment Award for my post about New Friends - meeting Tom and Ishbel Stronach, twitter friends, in real life. Meeting Tom and Ishbel truly was a Best Moment. We are now friends forever. BFFs!

Oh wow. I don’t even know where to begin. I read so many marvelous posts. I would say this… If you want to laugh and cry and learn and be amazed and you only have the time to follow a handful of people these are the people I would follow:

Marylin Warner at Things I Want to Tell My Mother.

Penny Watson at Penelope’s Romance Reviews.

J. W. Manus at Ebooks=Real Books.

Passive Guy over at The Passive Voice.

R.H. Mustard at City Noir.

Tom Stronach at Is It Me?

Stephane Gabart at My French Heaven.

Roberta at More Thyme Than Dough.

Special mention - all things paranormal at Fangs, Wands and Fairy Dust - Steph has a great post about the end of an era - Dead Ever After, by Charlaine Harris. Sookie’s Not Dead and Gone, She’s Just Gone Off Page.

If any of ya’ll above want to run with this… go for it!

I was re-reading Tom’s post and comments from last year and damn if he didn’t have the Dodgers confused with the Giants (SFD, honestly). Hopefully he has figured it out by now the ninny (first time I have ever used the word ninny-kind of like it). Oh yes as long as we are correcting dear old Tom, we have seven large redwoods in the backyard all scrunched together not four (we’d be better off with four actually but at this point it would be far easier to move the house than to cut three down). Anyway, still have fond memories of Tom and Ishbel’s hospitality, The Jersey Boys the gay bar and especially the 6 sided open air urinal across the street.

  18. Tom Stronach says:

Hey Oscar , I can only go with the information I am given if my Bestie, your Missus, gives me the wrong info, what can I say.

And Dodgers/Giants well I mean does it matter …. only kidding I’m still looking forward to you taking me and Ishbel to a game one of these days

Oh and you forgot to mention the smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and Bucks Fizz for breakfast on the Saturday and of course it was that breakfast drink that made me woozy resulting in the wrong way to the station later …. what can I say

Nice to hear from you ‘old boy’ and I accept being a ‘ninny’ with gracious decorum

  19. WONDERFUL, both Julia and Tom! And while I genuinely thank you both for your kind words about my blog, my applause is for the beautiful posts you wrote to accept the Best Moment Awards. You two are stand up people and exceptional writers who deserve this award on a regular basis!

  20. Don’t sell yourself short, Marylin. Your posts make me laugh or cry - always. No in-between. And thanks!
