Now… I’m going to try really hard not to slice my good left hand. Have some cooking to do.
Three weeks like this, then likely surgery with multiple pins and screws and a cast for 6-8 weeks. Like my mom always says, I’m an accident waiting to happen…
You should have seen me this morning (Ray and Tom). I got home from the doctor’s office and I needed to put on my hiking boots so I could get Jake out for a hike but I couldn’t tie the laces. I called the one neighbor for whom I have a phone number.
“Uh, hi Mary. This is Julia. Are you home?”
“No. I’m at the gym. What’s up?”
“Uh, I need you to tie my shoes.”
“Bwaaaaaaa-haaaaaaa-haaaaaa-haaaaaaa!”
So I went from house to house, hoping I’d find someone home. No luck. And then a Fedex truck turned into our court.
I ran after him. “Wait! Wait! Help!”
He stopped his truck and climbed out. He looked all concerned. “What’s wrong? What do you need?”
“Can you tie my shoes?”
He looked down at my hiking boots and then at my cast and then at my hiking boots and he laughed so hard.
But he tied my shoes. Now I must call Fedex so he can get some sort of commendation. Thanks, Sir Ron of Fedex.

LOL Those FedEx guys go above and beyond the call of duty…and you’re resourceful.
Totally Amber!
Yep, that’s why my sneakers are slip-on! Back in the day, I had a mini-stroke. And couldn’t remember how to tie my shoes. BIG panic. Finally found a pair of slip-ons to wear to work but it preyed on my mind. My boss noticed my anxiety and asked what the problem was. I blurted out, “I can’t tie my shoes!” …and SHE said, “Well, come in my office and I’ll tie ‘em for you.” THAT’s a boss!
And just because I want to share…went to the doc yesterday. Lost 18 pounds since last time!!! Have to use insulin now, but that’s life…:D
Fed Ex hero! I hope you heal quickly.
Kudos to Fed Ex Man. What the hell did you do to your hand?
Thanks ladies- typing is super slow so I’m thanking you all at once. Anny, you are amazing!
Only you would get your shoes ties by the FED-X guy, Julia…and down the road there will be a story!
Jake is having such a good time. A real problem solver. Some day when you don’t have enough to do, teach him to tie your shoes. He looks like a fast learner!
He is definitely a problem solver, Marylin. Thinks about stuff. And yeah, Fedex rocks!
That’s one smart dog - too bad he doesn’t have opposable thumbs.
A pair of Velcro sneakers for the next few weeks/months? Not as good as hiking boots, but better than nothing.
He tries, Alicia! No velcro- meed those hiking boots. Hiking on slick steep stuff.
Sheesh, and I thought I had problems when I was to fat to get near my shoes to tie laces so moved to slip ons now I can reach but like my slip ons xxxxx
Damn! Now you can reach your shoes!
No one can out do the Fed Ex Guy. They are every where and they can do anything. Fed Ex Guy for President.
I am working on getting you a Personal Fed Ex Guy for the next 4 months.
On a serious note, Good luck with surgery and healing. Sating my prayers for flawless healing.
I agree, Roberta! Gotta love Fedex. And I have a wonderful mail lady. Thank you so much for your prayers. Seeing the hand surgeon next Tuesday!
