Life in Pictures and love everlasting.

A birthday poem from my friend, Scottish friend, Tom:

There once was girl from Iowa
Who set off in search of the Kiowa
She travelled far and wide
Across the great plains in search of her
Dreams
Note pad and pencil she had, to record
All that she saw
Couldn’t find the Kiowa but landed
In California where Silicon Valley met Grape Valley
With a bucket of Mission Grapes to hand and with her computer
From the Valley
A house on the hill was moved into and PC from the Valley plugged into
From there she wrote of her dreams of Sauce and Sauciness
With Ketchup and Asparagus and a Martini from Penny and an Em-dash from Jaye she writes of Travels and Adventures, of coffee moms and handsome Germans
An audience was found who were always around and waiting for her
to say Hi!

This is the first time I’ve ever had a poem written for me! I’m thrilled. Thanks, Tom. It’s a great poem. Happy anniversary next week, Tom and Ishbel. It’s ours as well.

I have a favorite wedding picture - in case you’re wondering, my wedding flowers were purple heather and white roses.

This is my very favorite photo for reasons which I suppose aren’t apparent. It obviously does not show my face or my husband, still, it’s my favorite photo because it’s so real. I didn’t even know it had been taken. That’s my son. Sorry about the quality. I took photos of photos.

Here’s another that shows my husband with his pornstache - it was all the rage… and he was and is very cute. (There’s a prayer going on, but my attention is elsewhere. Typical.)

Skip ahead a generation and here’s my daughter’s ranch wedding last summer - there is no expiration date on love. It transcends time and generations.

The picture of your daughter and SIL kissing would make a perfect romance book cover. So, it’s just gorgeous. :)
    Lovely pics. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Casey Wyatt says:

Beautiful photos. I just teared up! I totally agree with Amber, your daughter’s wedding photos are romance book cover ready. I cracked up at the pornstache! That’s what my hubby is sporting right now (since he shaved the Grizzly Adam’s beard). Still waiting for him to shave the rest off.

And Tom’s poem - fantastic! I love how he worked in ketchup and asparagus too. You have the most wonderful friends, Julia!

I would never admit to Tom, that old bear, that his poem to you touched me and I teared up.

‘Tis said you can judge a person by the quality of their friends. Julia, you are top shelf.

    Love the photos!

  8. The pics are wonderful and thank you for posting the poem. It is really nice..

  9. Wonderful pictures, Julia, and Tom’s poem is a keeper! I’m still smiling that during the prayer someone else also did not have head bowed, and captured you in the lens!

  10. Funny, Marylin! Yes, apparently the photographer had his eye on me! I love Tom’s poem.

  11. Jaye - me too - he has no idea how amazing that poem is. Feels good. Sometimes I’m top shelf, sometimes I’m just, well, me, I guess.

  12. Thanks, Penny - we had a great meal. Fantastic!

  13. Thanks, Steph. I never think my kids look like me at all. But yes, I did give birth to them so…

  14. Hey, Casey and Amber - it was so romantic. I can’t even begin to tell you - total romance cover material.

  15. Thanks, Anny. I do love everlasting love!

Aw shucks, I’ve had a couple of draft blogs that I keep going back to as I am trying to find the correct words to express how much Julia, Jaye and Penny have meant to Ishbel and me, since we met on line, one of these days I am going to get it right and post it.

So my feeble attempt was I hope just a little prologue to the good feelings you guys share with us.

The photo’s are great too and I agree with Amber, while I don’t read a lot of the Lovin stuff, I get that from Ishbel, my girls, my grand daughters and YOU guys (and I have a tough demeanour to maintain too, the photo’s of your daughter and her husband would look great on the front of a book

    xx

  17. Isn’t it amazing, Tom, how we meet the most interesting, unique, lovely, wonderful people - and so unexpected! I love it. I wish you and Ishbel lived next door. Or I lived over there.
My daughter had the most romantic wedding ever in the history of weddings, and truth be told, marrying into a Montana ranching family (since pioneer days) is like marrying into the British royal family. You would not believe the planning that went into this.
