Catch me a good dream, Dream Catcher.

When my youngest daughter was very little, she suffered recurring nightmares. I understood this phenomenon very well as I suffered from recurring nightmares as a child.

In my daughter’s case I took action. I bought her a genuine Hopi Dream Catcher and hung it above the head of her bed, along with ancient Tibetan prayer bells (my grandmother’s) and a sage bundle blessed by my friend Little Hawk. She never again had a nightmare.

The power of suggestion? Who knows? Who cares? She was only three years old when I hung everything. It’s still there.

Anyway, she’s on the East Coast, preparing to enter a new school. Yesterday we chatted about her dream catcher. I told her I’d been sleeping in her bed so my insane coughing wouldn’t wake her dad. I said I’d never slept so well in my life.

She said, “I know. You have really good dreams when you’re in my bed, don’t you?”

I said, “Yes, great dreams. And you feel so cozy and protected.”

She said, “Yes. This makes me miss my bed. I’m coming home for a month before school starts so I can sleep in my own bed.”

What can I say? Sweet dreams. And I get to see my daughter. Oh happy day!

  1. Lovely story. Do you think her nightmares were related to the ghost business?

  2. I don’t know, Greta. It’s possible. She was only 6 months old when we lived with that ghost - a year when we moved out of the house. But yes, I suppose it is possible.

If if works, then that’s what counts. My granddaughter wouldn’t sleep in her room until I placed one of my Seraphim angels in there. Please enjoy your time with your daughter!!!

  18. Fingers crossed, Tom. It’s a good sign! Next time I come I’m bringing a dream catcher for your grandkids.
