Looper, a Hit and a Miss.

Looper.

Hit: Stylish futuristic noir thriller.

Miss: A chimera of themes. Is this a time paradox movie or a Mutant movie? Shades of The Phoenix, i.e., Jean Grey’s alter ego.

Hit: The acting.

Miss: Plot holes big enough to fly an Airbus A380 through.

Hit: Entertaining.

Miss: The demon child.

Has anyone else seen Looper? If so I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. Tom Stronach says:

I asked Ishbel if she wanted to watch this last week, she passed, which surprised me as she much prefers Mr Willis films to me, including Die Hard ……..

Fav BW films: Hudson Hawk, The Fith Element, Tears of the Sun, Red but the whole ensemble cast was outstanding and funny in that one

  2. Amber Skyze says:

Sorry, haven’t seen this one yet.

  3. i figured the promo I saw had the best parts of the movie. So, no. Maybe on the plane.

  4. Okay, Steph. If you watch it see if you can catch the plot holes AND see if you can decide what kind of movie it is.

  5. Let me know when you do, Amber.

  6. I love Bruce Willis, Tom, and he’s great in this. As I said - the acting is a hit. But I’m wondering exactly how many different people wrote this screenplay. Plus, knowing how much you hate kids in film… I want your take on The Kid.

  7. yoshi says:

The kid handled the swing between scrunched up forehead, “I am evil incarnate” to “hold me mommy I am scared” quite nicely but not a lot of nuance in between. He is a kid after all so I can’t be too critical.

  8. Tom Stronach says:

Awe no Jules, your telling me there’s a kid in this movie, please tell me he at least dies horribly at some point, please

  9. Tom… You have to see it to believe it. Seriously. You should watch it just so you can make up your mind about the spawn of hell.

  10. Oh Yoshi, yes indeed he did. But totally freaked me out! And like I said, the movie makers couldn’t decide if this was a time paradox movie or a mutant movie!

  11. Too funny, Yoshi! My point exactly, but without the magic melding.

  12. It’s in my cupboard to watch ASAP - I just need to be able to stay awake through a whole movie LOL

  13. Sandra Cox says:

Saw it. Didn’t care for it.

  14. Let me know what you think, Ciara. Hope you’re feeling better?
