*This is the post I’ve been planning for a couple weeks. Still unsure…
Remember DSB? Dirty Sexy Books? Rebecca’s blog site/review site, Dirty Sexy Books was my absolute favorite blog site. Nobody could write a quality book review like Rebecca. Even better, she was an equal opportunity reviewer. She didn’t care if a book was e-pubbed, indie-pubbed, trad-pubbed- she liked what she liked and she didn’t like what she didn’t like and she explained why or why not. Rebecca may have been an amateur hobbyist blogger, but her reviews were more professional than most professional reviews I’ve read. She was one smart cookie.
Rebecca never got into the bullshit drama that infects most high profile review sites. She was respectful. She respected authors and the effort that goes into writing a book even if she didn’t enjoy a particular book.
Well, one day Rebecca just walked away. She said so long, farewell, thanks for the memories, and she closed up shop. Left me bereft. But I understood.
I’m thinking it’s time for me to pull a Rebecca and walk away.
Never fear, I’m not abandoning you altogether. I love you… would never do that. I have made the most amazing friends via this blog. But it’s been five years now…
There will be changes-
This blog is now My Website. The Pages Will Be Everything. You’ll be able to use this site to learn all about me- my brand - ha-ha.. it is to laugh — my books, a preview of upcoming releases, my most popular blog posts, my hikes with Jake, the ranch in Montana, recipes…. It’s a brave new world folks. My focus will be back on writing books. I won’t be here everyday, although you can email me or contact me via twitter anytime.
Your patience is requested while I’m under construction. (And while I consider my options.)
Stick with me. I promise I won’t let you down.
(Oh, by the way, don’t search for Rebecca’s website. The domain was co-opted by a porn site.)

Good for you, hun. Do what works for you. I don’t blog every day. I don’t have that much to talk about. But I enjoy your stuff, and I’ll be here, nefariously enjoying Jake’s adventures. And a recipe or two.
More power to you! I hope I get the occasional opportunity to give you a hard time and make you LOL!
(and a few more ghost stories too.
Oh do I understand.
I’ve been thinking about walking away for awhile now. Hope you post from time to time, but I’ll keep in touch. Love ya!
I responded to this in the bunk house post. Write on! You can always guest post at my place if you hanker to bloggercize.
I’m amazed that you did this for five years. It was never boring and always you. I can’t wait for more books.
Go you! It’s time to focus on you! Happy trails and I’ll keep an eye out for your name on the NY Times and USA Today Best Sellers list!
Hugs,
Sharon
Best of luck, my dear. If you ever feel like writing about books or movies or TV, I have a spot for you.
I guess it had to happen.
You’ve made a lasting impression on me, Julia. Go get ‘em.
Thanks, Tim. You come back now - I’ll be updating regularly!
Thanks, Jaye. Maybe I can rant about The Walking Dead over on your site! Or if Game of Thrones or Vikings starts to suck.
Oh Sharon, you are so sweet! Thanks, girl. I’m hoping the same for you!
Thank you, Stephanie. I’m glad I haven’t been boring. Now I pass the torch on to you!
Saw that, Steph. Thank you so much! You have one of the most unique blogs - found a definite niche!
I will post from time to time, Amber. And I will post updates on my pages. You’ve been doing this for a long time too.
Hey Ray - you keep an eye out. I will be updating pages and writing occasional posts and you can come give me shit! Please!
I will keep writing some stuff, Greta - thanks so much for visiting and I’m so grateful we met. Love your blog!
Well, I certainly understand. I’ve been blogging for about seven years now. This year, due to spiraling family crises, I’ve had to dial back a bit. I must say I look forward to your common sense world views. Best, best wishes with whatever you dive into next!
I most certainly will Julia.
It’s a brave new world for Julia! Yeeeeee hawwwwwwww!!!!!! I totally support your decision and think it’s very wise.
I love the photo of you….adorable! Have fun re-working your website. It will be great!
Ray -
Counting on you.
Yes, Anny. Spiraling family crises. Good name for it. Thank you. I’ll still do some blogging and I’ll be posting updates - new pages. Fun recipes and stuff.
Thanks, Penny. And I do hope so!
Good for you, Julia!
You have an unflinching grip on your own reality, and we won’t be losing you completely, so it will all work out.
What ever you do, what ever twists and turns this blog will take will be fantastic - becasue you are fantastic. You are authentic and one smart cookie.
Since I am new to your site I am not invested in it being one way or the other. I think what you are thinking and doing works just fine.
Look forward to what ever new comes along.
P.S. - Change is the only constant in the world.
Goodbye nice knowing you
Kidding….
You do what’s best for you my sweet gorgeous friend, you’ll have my support until my dying breath ….. which is a long long long long long way away oh by the way Jaye might be talking to you about tweet buttons and ipad configurations ;-)))))
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
double BTW
Love the photo too xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Damn you Tom! Don’t you dare disappear! I’ll have stuff going on here. Just new stuff. Jaye’s gonna talk to me about what???
Sometimes I do, Marylin. Sometimes not. Fingers crossed I’m doing the right thing.
Roberta - truer words were never spoke. I don’t mind change. And thank you.
In response to @jwmanus lattes blog post who appears to have blocked me as she is obviously not keen on seeing me turn into a skinny runt through the magic of chemo and as I need her to sort out a problem on the one too, sorry Missy Jules but needs must and I may also post one to Marylin here too as she is also blocking me
So;
So, what’s going on left comments earlier and they haven’t appeared so trying again, you haven’t done a tesco on me and are blocking me….
The reason I ask is that if I remember what I said earlier was that not being a writer I don’t worry too much about what I say as I just open my gob, metaphorically speaking and let it all hang out which on a couple of occasions has got me into trouble, particularly with Essex Police who would prefer me not to have called their Ex Chief Constable (police chief) a rude name and then post the blog on their page. They were very nice about it really telling me they were removing it and to desist.
And then of course there is Tesco when I was in there recently I tested a couple of the sale laptops and managed to bring up yours, Julia and Penny’s blogs but mine appears to be blocked I suspect because I keep calling them arse holes, surely that’s no reason to block me, any advice I should take from this …..
Oh the second point was, you know I love you all dearly but clearly Missy Julia is as dumb as me on the technical side and when I open your blog and Penny’s blog and anyone else’s blog on my iPad I still get the links and reshare buttons for twitter etc, but not on Jules. I have mentioned this before but she is clearly bright beautiful and smart, but you are smarter technologically speaking, sort out her new site for her please
Xxxx
Tom… I think Tesco is messing with you. I’ll see what I can do.
Thanks babes
Around my house, the ultimate cure for almost all things mechanical is a ball-peen hammer. Sometimes merely threatening the recalcitrant gadget is enough to make it behave. Not always though.
3/4s of the time your blog eats my comments. I’ve started having the same trouble on other blogspot blogs as well, and was feeling rather picked on and fearing that I’d been singled out. Which I may have, but considering you’re now having trouble from the other end, either there is something going on in the ether, or, (more likely, Tom) we’ve both been tagged as troublemakers, in which case we’ve little recourse except to sneak in back doors when we can.
But lest you fear you’ve been blocked by me, rest easy. I cherish troublemakers, especially you, and your reader’s perspective on ebooks is always welcome.
I knew you wouldn’t block me my darling, maybe WordPress and blogspot.com will get together and sort it out but I don’t think we should hold our breath xxxx
Best wishes, friend.
Thanks,Sandra - Stick around - new stuff!
I understand completely. I sorta did the same thing accidentally. At least you are polite enough to tell people in advance!
Marie - LOL! Thanks!
Hi Julia,
I’ve only known you a short while, but you will be missed. Good luck with your writing. Congrats on making such a gutsy decision!
-Sara
Thanks, Sara - stop by. I’ll be updating!
