I tried to stop, to kick the habit, but as you can see here I am.
Anyway, what I want to say today is this- A few dear friends and family members are going through some pretty tough times.
I won’t mention names, but please know my thoughts and prayers are with you every day.
Coming soon - thoughts about fall. Maybe we’ll talk football, books, blogging, education, food, dogs and cats living together… This is a really weird time in history, folks. I hope there’s a future for my children, and if I ever have them, grandchildren. Your children too, of course.
Frankly I’d like to stay the hell out of Syria. That is a door we do not want to open.
You know, once you open Pandora’s Box it’s pretty hard to stuff all that shit back in.
Okay, enough politics. Tomorrow will be a better day.
If you gotta say it, you gotta say it. That’s all there is to it.
I fear another involvement. And yet, it is hard to see it happening and have all these tools and not use them. When we think we’ve come so far as a species we see another power hungry elite fight to keep power against all odds and by any means.
In Maine, 1 in 4 children here live with hunger and food insecurity and yet as a people we don’t put a battleship in any of our own waters to help.
We have people without decent, healthy food, or medical care or decent education, and those stuck in the poisons of poverty and addiction and there are no large scale battle plans to eradicate these threats.
Diabetes 2 is running rampant in school children and when someone tries to help they shout tyrant!
If there were a war on these problems our legislators would turn it into a battle for power with access to food and medical care the weapons. We live in a country where being poor makes you fat which is too weird.
It’s an unfair and uneven place this planet of ours.
Sorry your friends are in difficulty.
Yup. Messed up, Steph. Gotta hope for the best.
I do, Jaye. Thanks.
Always good to hear from you, Julia, but I’m sorry for your friends’ problems.
This IS, indeed, an ongoing weird time in history. I’m concerned not just about Syria, but also about the general mentality that has no awareness about a Pandora’s Box or what it means, or how some decisions can not be undone and tucked back and held in place with a lid.
Glad to see you enjoyed your time off blogging, what there was of it. Stay happy and healthy.
Again, you’re right, Marylin. Lots and lots of short memories.
I hate to sound mean but if they want to kill their people let them. Until they bring it to our country I say stay the hell out of it. We get involved in too much and forget about taking care of our own.
Amber ICAM! I really do not want to open the door to WWIII - the Middle East is a powder keg. Amazing to agree with the Russians, isn’t it?
Julia, today’s post by Diana Bletter is from the perspective of a Jewish family in Israel preparing for their new year and dusting off gas masks in case there is retaliation for what we do. Once you open Pandora’s Box, it’s not just your life. http://thebestchapter.com/2013/08/30/with-war-on-the-horizon-in-the-galilee-how-do-you-rsvp/
Sorry about your family and friends. Hope life gets better soon for them. And yes, Syria is also on my mind. I hope and pray America does not strike. I hope and pray there is another international way to deal with Assad. I feel heartened that more and more are speaking out against any rash moves.
Thanks, Marylin. I’m now following her. Our government already said if Israel is attacked as a result of whatever we do, we plan to do NOTHING. Nice. We “shoot across the bow” and let the countries in the region suffer the fallout. Sorry, we suck.
Oh Diana, do not underestimate the stupidity of our government. I suspect we will do something stupid which will make everything way worse. There are no good solutions in this situation. Like I said, for once I agree with Russia.
Blessings on your friends and family. As for Syria…I heartily agree.
Thanks, Anny. I’m thinking about you too.
PS…my thoughts are always with you and your family. Hugs
Thanks, Amber!
Glad you are back and saying what needs to be said!
Love fall too. So many interesting things to blog about!
Well honey, I am back… sorta, kinda…
