All good thoughts.

Tomorrow is my husband’s knee surgery. As you may recall he gallantly gave up his surgery date for me since I needed a pretty urgent knee repair. We share the same surgeon. The man who saved my left knee. He and I are both hoping he’s now managed to save the right.

So I made him like two gallons of granola. When he made the original appointment for my husband he asked, “Is Julia still making granola?” Hint. Hint. You see, I’d made him a whole lot of granola out of gratitude after my last surgery.

So yes, today I made him an enormous bag of granola. It’s good stuff. I know he’ll be happy. Good granola = Successful surgery.

However you may not hear from me for a while. Between caring for ‘Oscar’ and the dog I won’t have much spare time. But, ‘Oscar’ did it for me, so… Anyway, he deserves the best.

Today I pushed myself - grocery shopping, granola baking, an hour of German shepherd basketball, (Hey, yesterday it was an hour and a half- the Playinator strikes again!) an hour hike- yes, Jaye, with my cane at the relatively flat park and I was careful- preparing supper - since hubs can’t eat after a certain time - a little work in the garden- had to fix some hail damage. So now I’m icing my knee and checking out the slowly progressing climax of my WIP. Get your mind out of the gutter. The climax of the story, that’s all.

Be careful. I'll whack you.

Be careful. I’ll whack you.

I do feel pretty stupid with a cane. Seriously stupid. But it does tend to make other people keep their dogs under control so I don’t get knee-capped. Happens a lot with labs and golden retrievers. Especially the big barrel-shaped labs.

And people look at me like… Oh the poor girl, she must have some wretched tragic disease. We’d better stay the hell away from her, lest we catch it. It’s okay. I like to be alone. Just me, my dog, my cane, my ball thrower and the ball ( a chuck-it), my phone, my car keys and my poop bags. Yes, I can hold a cane and throw the ball too!

Except Jake’s ball is white and glows in the dark.

Alrighty then. Tomorrow night the hubs and I will both be sitting in bed with our legs elevated on pillows wearing ice bags. I’m schlepping a bottle of wine upstairs too. You people be good, hear? Love ya! Julia

    Now stop breaking things.

  7. Hey everyone, thank you so much. Oscar is happy as a clam on his meds. Seriously happy. Prayers to author Sandra Cox- her brother had surgery today too for a heart valve/aorta issue. He’s in ICCU. I know we all wish her the best. She’s the first author who said ‘hey’ to me way back when. Love you!
